Roush exhaust

Ok so i installed the roush exhaust yesterday and wow do they sound good. But they are way to loud i did not expect them to be this loud. will they quite down a bit as they break in?

charliebrown266 05-19-2013 11:36 PM

If anything they will get louder!!

Sonic Mustang 05-19-2013 11:50 PM

I've heard/read this dozens and dozens on times.

What in the heck makes people think exhaust systems break-in?

Over time the resin buildup from burnt fuel will catch on the inside of the exhaust and give it a deeper rumble; I experienced it on my sixxer as well as my dads gt

Love the Roush exhaust on my 13. I went a step above and removed the resonators. Nice and loud but not off-road loud. Perfect balance!

dcarlinf1 05-20-2013 07:44 AM

Nope, they don't get any quieter. I say give it time and you will probably begin to like the sound.

BrazenStang 05-20-2013 08:40 AM

I'm surprised that you say the Roush is too loud. Obviously, everyone has their own opinion on what is too loud, but most think that the Roush is right in the middle. Louder than stock, but not the loudest. Are you talking about in-car volume, or the neighbors started to complain?

Andy13186 05-20-2013 08:57 AM

they are only loud after a cold start imo, unless you dont have resonators or dont have cats

are the axleback mufflers your only exhaust mod?

alan0614 05-20-2013 09:20 AM

Had Roush on my 5.0, several of my buddies have them and I think it is the sweetest sounded axleback made.

redrader26 05-20-2013 09:54 AM

I have them on mine as well and love the sound but they are loud. I think most folks that post saying they are too loud end up with GT500's. I plastidip'd the tips, looks great.

StangingAround 05-20-2013 11:22 AM

Loud? Ha, they could be louder in my opinion.

SchneidyP4.6 05-20-2013 03:41 PM

I would like to hear what they sound like without resonators... anybody have a video? I want more loud from my Roush. If removing the resonators causes the cackling on downshifts to go away, nevermind. I would assume it would make the popping louder/more frequent...

StangingAround 05-20-2013 03:43 PM

Found one, can't say I like it.

Yes it is the only exhaust mod. They are much louder while the car is cold i agree, but anything over 3500 rpm and it sounds like a bomb going off anything/anyone within 3-4 blocks look back. I have also set off a few car alarms. I like the loudness i just wasn't expecting it to be so loud at low rpms 2k+ is still pretty loud and i am scared some cop is going to pull me over b/c of them. 18 year old with a 5.0 black rims and a loud exhaust.... no cop is going to be forgiving

On my 05 when i get the muffler delete the first week every alarm would go off especially in parking lots. After a week or 2 they quieted down still very loud but not enough for the actual alarm to go off just the pre alarm (that beep sound b4 they are about to go off).

SchneidyP4.6 05-20-2013 07:36 PM

audio quality not so great... def louder, more of a raspy sound. I may try it!

Terrible example! Terrible video!

Trez83 05-20-2013 08:58 PM

I have them on my Stage 1 Roush and love them. If ya keep the RPM's under 3500 around town, no cop will bother you.

Love how they sound like open headers above 4000 RPM's. Crazy good sound. Perfectly quiet on the highway at speed. As good as stock.

By your theory, after 9 months open pipes should be quieter than a factory exhaust.

How about you try to find one better instead of complaining (although I do agree the video isn't the greatest)? LOL.
