Is your car running hot? It shouldn't be. Maybe something is not working right. I lived in Abilene and my car saw traffic when the temp was 120* in the shade and never got above 200*. No joke, ambient temp read in the 130s sitting on the cooking asphault. The fans turn on last time I checked my tuner at 192 & 195.
But I have a manual and didn't drive it hard when it was hot outside.

It runs fine I was just thinking logically more heat in Texas summer means the harder my cooling system has to work to cool the motor from the extensive heat which caused power to be robbed. .. Besides that train of thought and meziere wants 400-700 for an electric water pump at 12rwhp tops I think ill find some other mod maybe some adjustable sway bars or upper control arm maybe, radiator support.

Idk about the money burning a hole but I was bitten by a swarm of mod bugs And I got the approval of the wife to do some more light modding so I refuse to let this opportunity go to waste

Do some other mods while you have the short window of approval. I've never really heard of the s197's havin cooling issues. I live in the phx area and temps get 110-120 even consistently and have never had issues running the ac every summer since 06. Look into lowering or an aluminum driveshaft ect.. The list goes on and on.

Oh yeah forgot to add that I think you should pay close attention to your oil when driving in hot climates on a stock engine than cooling as long as youre not running hot. Especially Texas where it gets dusty. I run Royal Purple but changed it every three months/3000 miles while the temps reached above 90, keeping in mind west Texas always had fairly dusty conditions.

Buy as much as you can get away with, and define "light modding" for her.

The same thing happened to me, and I ended up spending about $2200. SWMBO hasn't seen the Visa card bill yet. More importantly, I'm not done yet.

Truly unnecessary but it's your money. If you're going to change the oil 3-5 times more frequently than that oil is capable of while still providing excellent protection, then you're better off going back to the synthetic blend. Even then, 5k mile change frequencies is more than sufficient with the blend, regardless if it's Texas or Minnesota.

Think about it this way: the engine runs at around 200*. Outside air is 90-100*...so what!!!

Back to your concerns, your #1 best mod is to use a 160* thermostat; that'll help the car run cooler. Also, keep air flow through the radiator as unobstructed as possible (clean off bugs, etc.) This will help when moving more than standing still.

Otherwise, look at your coolant temp and trans temp (datalog it or use some obdII reader), and see what temps are doing. Or if you have separate gauges, that can tell you as well of course. You may be worrying about nothing. Yes it gets hot here in the summer. Makes drag racing a pita and slow.
