Need input for axle back exhaust
#21
i have a 2006 GT and I bought the Flowmaster Pro Series (they were called Hushpowers at the time, almost a year old from americanmuscle.com).
I live in Brooklyn, NY, where there are stop-signs and street lights on 90% of intersections, so i didn't want to be disrupting through the populated areas here. I was just looking for some extra clean rumble. i also planned ahead for the noise the BBK LT's will make.
Now, these things aren't quiet... you definitely will be noticed while your pulling away or flying by someone because i've heard it myself, but i'd say they are not a bother to anyone. Also, idling or slow rolling will not either. If you want your car noticed BEFORE you make a pass or idling at a light in the neighborhood , get the Flowmaster Outlaws. I would buy those if I could do it over again!

I won't even attempt to provide input; it's such a personal thing...
Be sure to read TacoBill's How-To in the stickies for his axleback install (Stingers, IIRC). It has good info that pertains to ALL axlebacks and will hopefully prevent you from thinking (incorrectly) that you need to bend things to get the tips centered in the cutouts.

The Ders, avoid the drone and loud and obnoxious for no other reason (Magnaflow, Flowmaster). Consensus is Yes$$$ is better, I'd go with the Ford Racing Performance Parts(FRPP) they must have designed and tested these parts with a purpose. My FRPP axil back Sports $699 sound like a symphony of Vipers with three Vets as back-up singers
Those $1200 duel tip Shelby axil backs put mine to shame and you'll need a new valance for duels.
Notice the Sports have 4" tips with raised FR logos. The stock and GT-500 at 3" or 3.5" look mismatched.

OP, you have a 2010 car and that means it's a 4.6 mill.
The guys with the 5.0 giving you advice are misleading you (but they mean well I'm sure) because they have a different engine.
The 5.0 is 4valves as you know and that combo=sounds good.
The 4.6 (and 5.4) 3 valves always has been a challenge to make it sound like old school or even get a decent rumble.
I agree with Nuke about this being subjective and all but I I never heard a loud car sounding good and it's even worse when it comes to the 3v4.6 IMO.
Also, axle backs are more prone to drone since you have less pipe length sticking out of the muffler.
Lastly, Pypes is indeed a junk product.

My bad. You can still get the three levels of FRPP mufflers $300 - $700 - $1200, as for the sound of a 3v or even a V6, the MAC Chamber Pro's were so good I wanted to create a time machine, go back in time and un-wreak my car. Makes the V6 sound like a V8 and would make a V8 v2 or v3 sound much better.
Anyway read the reviews on AM and decide.
And yes, you may need to be quiet sometimes. Such as when sneaking by the Landlady late at night. At idle I'm quiet as a fugitive but at WOT I can be as surly as I wanna be.
