My power seat went out, need help
Hey, so my power seat went out .... well its been out for a few months, just never bothered since i hardly drive the car. The motor is still good, just doesn't slide forward or backward, but it goes up and down and does everything else. Do i need a new motor? how hard is it to change? can i do it in a couple of hours?
Thank you
Thank you

There are different motors....one for each direction....up/down...front/back.....
Need new motors that cannot be bought thru Ford. They sell the entire rack because it is cheaper for them to replace the entire unit vs tearing into the broken one for diagnosis and repair. Been thru this a couple times with Ford under warranty. If Ford sells the motors....it is news to me.
Find a salvage unit or buy new....might be able to get a bad salvage unit and swap motors since they seem to be interchangable based on what I have seen.

Ford is the same way with their sunroofs. Wife's 06 escape broke a piece of the track guide for the glass (stupid plastic ****). They want $700 bucks for the track assembly, no motor, no glass, no wire harness. Just the track because they don't sell the track guides separately. Bought a complete used assembly (Track, glass, motor, harness) from Ebay for $240 and installed it a couple weeks ago. Works like new.

If you find a complete, good power seat rack it is a simple swap. Four bolts into the floor....unplug seat electrical plug....remove seat and four bolts hold the rack to the seat.
Ford also says the bolts into the floor are one time use only....at least on my '11. I had problems with one coming loose because they did not use new ones on the floor mounts.
As far as a separate motor replacement, it cannot be to hard....just look it over and follow common sense.

Honestly, it's too much work and $$$$$ man. Many of us with a V-6 have pondered the posibility of swappingout the v6 for a v8. Long story short, it would be better to just purchase a truck with a v8 if that's what you really want.
