Steering Wheel Moving/Vibrating From Left To Right
#21
Good news! I just got home from getting the tires Road Force balanced. Problem solved! They said regardless of having them Road Force balanced, the tires were out of balanced pretty bad. Obviously, the place I bought the tires from didn't have their machine calibrated correctly or something. Also, I got the Road Force balance for over half off! When I called to see if they did Road Force balancing and asked for the cost, they said $9.00 per tire. I got there and they said it was $25.00 per tire. They went ahead and gave me the $9.00 price and saved me almost $60. Can't beat that!
Thanks everyone for the help!

Yeah, unless you have confidence in the shop, balancing can become a real nightmare. The wheels on my Toyota SUV are lug-centric (vs. hub centric) and require a calibrated adapter. Most shops say you don't need the adapter but they simply don't want their techs spending twice to three times as much time on a customer. I either make sure I can watch to confirm they use the adapter or I find another shop.
When I had my balance issue with my Stang, they RoadForced all 4 for $35 and then didn't charge me the following week to dismount the defective tire, remount the new one and RoadForce that, also.

When I got my nitto 555's in December, the car vibrates at 60-65 but only then. Because the guys at discount tire decided to put the weights on the inside of my wheels (which is not even close to as accurate) cause I had nice wheels apparently haha. Nice of them but weights on the outside work much better! It only happens at certain speeds so I've just learned to deal with it till next time I'm at discount tire
