Thinking of getting a Scosche Touch Screen Dash Kit with Pioneer Nav Unit
So I replaced my radio with a Samsung Tablet mostly for Navi and expanded music selection but I will admit I am not 100% happy with the interface and usage. Thinking of changing out to a Scosche Touch Screen Dash Kit with Pioneer Nav Unit (Pioneer Avic-940BT).
Anyone have experiance with the Scosche unit or the Pioneer Avic-940BT?
I love my tablet cause I can store all my music on it and not have to carry my CDs around anymore (sooooo 2000's). Is it possible to add a external hard drive onto a '11 that will interact with a AF HU?
Anything I should be worried about with either one of these?
Here is a link to the unit for sale. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...plug-play.html
Thanks,
Matthew
P.S. - Someone please buy this before I do. I just spend 1,200 on rims and tires. I dont think my wife will approve making me buy it...you know...without her permission. Thus ending in my un-avoidable but fully justifiable divorce

Im running that Pioneer in the Shelby and it's fantastic. No complaints at all. There is a USB port on the back but I dont know if it will have enough power for an external hdd. You could always just get a large USB stick and plug that in.
I was going to ask if your wife said this was ok, but I guess you're just waiting to get served your papers! lol

I have the AVIC-X930BT, which is the previous model, and I love it! It is one of my favorite mods along with my leather seats. The 940 supports both iOS and Android, whereas the 930 only supports iOS. I have no idea if you can plug an external hard drive, I never tried it. My suggestion would be, as Wcgman already mentioned, to buy a large capacity USB flash drive or a micro SD card because those are the ones that are sure to work.

Im still on the fence with this one. I just finished paying back my saving for the wheels and tires, I have a Samsung Tablet installed that has all my music, plus connects through wifi to update any new music I get, and it has GPS. But it just dont flow with the center bezel. Looks out of place and dare I say it - cheesy. Plus I could really use that $650 for exhaust...

Well Im not going to say Im a huge fan of the Pioneer GPS. It kinda looks cheesy, but it does work. That being said, I still use my phone for GPS. Also if you're playing your tunes through the tablet via the stereo jack, aren't you losing some sound quality? I get what you're saying though because it's like when are they going to truly integrate something like the tablet technology in a solid form into a head unit. Like seriously...why isnt there a Droid based HU? There's definitely pros and cons with each. I would say that if you go into the Pioneer expecting a tablet experience, it most definitely isn't. You hope for it, but the interface compared to your Samsung is going to feel dated, clunky and not highly functional.
It kind of sounds like you plan on doing both the head unit and exhaust at some point, so maybe decide if the sound inside is more important to you which only you can really enjoy or the sounds outside which others can experience is more important.
Then again, you could go the redneck route. Get the scosche and pioneer, then do redneck axle back muffler deletes where you just take your mufflers off and run right off the pipe.

Then again, it only is averaging 3 out of 5 stars on Amazon...price seems right!
