Default Hood damage 08 v6

Was wondering if this could be a self fixer or I need to take it to a shop, or just buy a new hood for around $500? Happened a year ago due to someone cutting me off too close at a median. They couldn't determine fault and I could not afford the $1000 deductible. If so how would I go about this? Obviously the front end is very much damaged. Anyone with autobody experience? I really need to just find a way to flatten the the hood portion for now, so people can quit telling me my hood is open all the time! Thanks

if just the hood is messed up then I vote get a nice after market hood or look on craigslist for like a GT take off hood with a scoop? even if you got a black hood it wouldn't look to bad on a white stang

You could take it to a shop, that's a pretty hard fix if you're not an autobody guy. Since you have a pretty prominent factory color I'd ask around and just try and find a stock replacement, not sure if a GT hood has to be modified to fit a V6 or not. If you went the aftermarket route, it's gonna run you about 5-700 a hood depending on if you want steel, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. The downside to fiberglass and carbonfiber though is that is a lot harder to paint, so in the end it's probably gonna cost you a pretty penny to get that done unless you left it black, which I don't really think looks that great...

Thanks guys for the advice. I will probably go the aftermarket route and just install it myself.

Install on a hood is easy peasy, like 6 bolts if I remember correctly. Good luck. By the way, I'd get one with heat extractors, looks good and is good on your motor.

A bowed hood is totaled hood. It's considered a crumple zone and once it gets a kink, it's safety as a crumple zone is gone. Even if you visually straightened it, it would be dangerous to keep. If you were to get into another accident the hood would not crumple the way it's supposed to and would render other safety features less effective.

Good idea to buy a new one.

Your hood is FUBAR. Either look on craigslist or find an aftermarket one. Until then, maybe splatter some red plastidip all over that area so it looks like you took out a pedestrian. Im sure people will clear a big path for you.

I'm really liking the stalker type II hood, but would rather go ahead and get the whole kit. I think I may go with this
