Talking For Those W/ Hood Struts Kits

Was wondering how far they actually lift the hood?

Debating if I want to keep using the PR so I can simply use a stick to hold the hood up high when needed, if the strut kit doesn't go higher than the PR.

Taken measurement from front edge of fender to corner of the hood...

I got mine from American Muscle. They work just fine. I kept the prop rod in its place as it's really not in the way.

You don't need to keep the prop rod. The struts actually open the hood quite a bit.

The hood opens much higher than when it sat on the prop.

OMG as much as I have worked on my car with adding cams, headers and a supercharger. I should have ordered the hood strut kit first. Prop rod was always in the way. Well spent money IMO.

Yes they do open the hood more than the PR, yes they are worth the money, and yes they work GREAT! So much easier to get under the hood with the PR out of the way.

How well do these work with aftermarket heavier hoods like my Trufiber. I am always worried about having the weight burden so close to the back of the hood that it may flex just a little bit too much, esp while trying to close the hood. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing though.....

I have a trufiber hood and a strut kit from am. The hood is fine and i've had it on there for over a year. It does lift the hood up higher than the pr and IMO it looks better and is way easier anytime you are doing anything under the hood.
