Have you guys brought this up to your Ford Dealers? If so, what did they say?

Deysha,

Thank you for your continued interest in the issue.

My dealer wanted to replace the passenger side exhaust manifold on my 2013, however, 4lexC reported on another forum that this was done to his car but it did not resolve the issue and therefore I see no reason to have it done to mine.

From my own research on various forums, owners have had the following parts replaced that did not resolve the issued.

1. Serpentine belt
2. Serpentine belt tensioner
3. Alternator
4. A/C compressor
5. Exhaust manifold

I opened a case with Ford and was contacted by my Colorado area customer service manager on 12/10/14. I was told she would contact the dealer and research the issue and get back to me.

I have found 5 or 6 videos on YouTube of owners that are experiencing the same issue. Once you have experienced the issue you will instantly recognize the sound on the videos.

Since this issue only seems to occur when the car is warming up, at approximately 1,000 RPMs and then for only a short time, it’s extremely difficult for the dealers to troubleshoot and I believe the dealers need help from Ford instead of just replacing parts to try and resolve the issue.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated by many owners.

You’re welcome, mudhen463! You now have a CSM assigned to your case who will help the dealer get this resolved for you. Please stay in contact whit them.

I look forward to seeing where this escalates to. Obviously others are having the noise; for me it ends up happening two hours after the car has been shut off from a warm run.

Mine seems to occur between 1-2 hours of sitting after being fully warmed up.

I find it interesting that 2011-2012 5.0 Mustangs have a TSB to replace the A/C stretchy belt with a conventional serpentine belt AND a tensioner. Makes me wonder why the stretchy belt is no longer used for 5.0 engines but still used with the V6. The 5.0 TSB describes a different noise but it still makes me wonder....
