Won't work. Zero offset will put even the wheel over an inch outside the fenders. Hit a good bump, or lower the car and hit much of any bump at all and the tire tread will be into the sheetmetal.

Here's what 255/45's on 18 x 9.5 x +45offset wheels looks like. There's about 3/4" more room before it's not under the fenders any more.

Here's about where the wheel will end up with zero or negative offset and enough wheel width for 285/xx-18 tires. Your 285/xx tire would already be in the sheetmetal because it won't be stretched like this moron stretched his little tire out to. The tire would be into the metal no matter how wide or narrow the wheels might be.

The thumbnail picture shows the difference when you overlay a zero offset 18x10 with 285/35's over 18x9.5x+45 with 255/45's. When you click on it you'll be able to read how much further your numbers put it. Over 2" further out than the tire and wheel combination that Ford used for the 18" GT500 front tires.

Thanks Norm, I think I understand it now. So what offset would you recommend?

No more than about +42 or +43 for 18 x 10's else strut side rub likely, less than about +36 will risk fender contact

The 18 x 10.5 Enkei PF01's may just barely be able to wear 285/35's and still fit the tread under the fenders all around without spacers or rubbing (the outermost sidewall point may be just barely outside) I think Tire Rack lists these wheels at +38 offset as an optional rear fitment only because it is so close. Running the comparison numbers puts this combination so close it's a little risky even for me, and I've worked wheel widths and offsets to within 1/16" of hard wheel interference before. Sam Strano sells these Enkeis as a kit of 4 with a couple of 5mm spacers for a reason, and I won't even attempt to guarantee anybody a no-spacer fit.

The thumbnail shows 285/35 on 10.5" wide Enkeis will eat up almost 1/4" more inside room vs the GT500 tire&wheel setup (that only has about 3/8" tire to strut clearance).

Sorry to revive this but I'm getting close to buying these. I think I want to run 285s all around on the XXR 535 10.25 with a +20 offset. The only thing I'm still concerned about is the offset. I'm already running +20 offset in the rear I'm just afraid of rubbage in the front. Has anyone ran 20s in the front before?

I don't see how they are going to fit but I did see a thread with a mustang who put them on. He never mentioned whether he rubbed or not but he did say he auto crossed which would definitely let us know if it was going to rub) but don't know if he did yet. I don't have an account there but he's over at modded mustang so ask him as it's been a few months since he put them on.

Not too sure about the quality of XXR but they look good.

Yeah I saw this guys too. He apparently has gone through a lot of rims, maybe his fenders were rolled or something I'm not sure.

I just looked at this picture really closely, with 275s on a 20mm offset the wheel definitely seems so stick out. Looks like I'm going to have to get these staggered, hopefully it looks good with these rims.

With a +20 you will stick out. Period. Unless you are low enough to pull it off its gonna look kinda odd.

Will it fit you ask? Sure all day everyday.

ANd i dont know why people have always been afraid of putting a big tire up front there is LOADS of room to squeeze things in!
