Default will black racing stripes + black 'mustang gt' rockers, and a black rear deck panel

look good? (kind of an update to my thread from a couple weeks ago)

basically i decided on black dual stripes (10" since they seem to be not too big or small (or should i get 8" or 12"?) )

And some black MUSTANG GT rocker stripes on the bottom of the sides of the car

and a black rear deck panel.

Mines an 06 GT redfire and i feel like these black mods would look nice with the paint, would you recommend anything else or what do you think of my plans?

would having racing stripes AND rocker stripes look okay or would it be too much? I'm not a fan of mustangs that buy every single mod from AM and just throw it on their car and it just looks really messy and congested.

I don't know, will it?....

These are the types of questions that are entirely subjective and you can answer yourself.

Possibly, but the general population of car fanatics have a certain taste about what looks good. IE: A lot of things that I thought would look awesome, everyone else thought looked retarded then I started seeing their point of view, so I'm still developing the taste of what looks good or not.

Vice versa: someone will post a pic of a car and I think it looks awful, but everyone else thinks its amazing, so it takes some time to develop the taste and eye for aesthetics.

I think what he is saying is do what you think looks good. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. We aren't going to be the ones driving it, you are.

If everyone hates it, then oh well. All that matters is that you like the look of your car.

With red, the only two stripe options I'd consider are black or white. White is expected with red, and really tugs the heart strings, but it's relatively common. I've never seen a red stang with black stripes outside of these forums.

Yeah, black on red usually looks ok, if not good. I rarely see that and think it's bad. It's a pretty standard color combination, good contrast, goes well together, all that. I doubt you'd get any flack from car people over it.

Dunno about having both the racing stripes and rocker stripes together though... That might indeed be too much. I'm gonna go see if I can google up some pictures and come back...

Ok here you go, if you haven't seen one. I don't know if I'd do both, but on the flip side I don't think it's necessarily too much. I know many/most of the GT500s come standard with both, right? So it's certainly not an unheard of look...

For some comparison, here's one with white as suggested above:

And one with just black racing stripes:

thanks a lot for the pics schmalgar!

i wasn't too keen on the white before, but you guys are right it does look nice!

maybe i'll get one white stripe and one black stripe (lol jk.)

i was pretty much dead set on the black stripes, was just wondering what inch width would look best especially with the rocker stripes and rear panel - but damn now i'm debating white hard!

Yeah I was more for black stripes as well but in looking at all these pics, I am digging the white too. Tough call now, huh?

As for opinions on the width, I dunno... I don't know which ones are which widths just by looking at them. The white stripes seem wider than the black above, and I think I like the wider ones better...

The problem you are going to run into, is that you have a paint color with fleck in it. The choices in stripe color are limited due to the fact that you don't want to hide too much of the fleck, as that is what draws attention to the color and to the naked eye.
I would agree with the previous posters as to either white or matte black.
Either color is going to give you just enough distraction to shift focus from the paint, but not entirely away from it...this is what you are after.

alternate colors are very easy to pull off on monotone paints (black/white) or primary base colors (red/orange/yellow) and somewhat easy to pull off on lightly flecked paints (silver/vista blue/vapor silver). It tends to get real tricky and very limited once you start adding more fleck into the paint, where you almost get to the point of debating "do i leave it as is?" or "do i stripe it?" or "do i accent it?"

Here's a pic of a 2013 GT500 candy red/matte black. It's incredibly beautiful, sleek, elegant and keeps yours eyes moving between the 2. It works really, really well, as it will on the redfire.

Is yours an '05-'09 or '10-'12 or '13-'14? I ask, because if it's an '05-'09 or '13-'14 I think the rocker stripes and racing stripes would be fine, because you have those painted side skirts and rear bumper. But if you have a '10-'12, the added matte black with those unpainted side skirts could look cluttered.

As for the black out panel, I would put on the stripes first, see how you liked it then add the panel if you think it needs more.

Matte black. And I would agree with Tanner, hold off on the black out panel. If you do matte black, it will black out most of the trunk anyways.

As far as the rockers go, I think that they only look good on GT500s.

Thanks, Razor.
Nope, the V6s came with the unpainted side skirts, like the GT500s. So I left the chin spoiler unpainted and just finished it off by putting on a GT500 rear bumper, so it carries the textured look all the way around.

I was about to post pictures of my black GT with black stripes. Then I reread your post and it said you have a red car. I will go away now.

P.S., I like black stripes on a red car.
