I'm about to do this swap too. Going from the standard 4 gauge, to the GT 6 gauge My Color. Didn't want to start a new thread since this one is here.

The cluster I am about to buy has about 40k less miles on it. Do I need to install it first, and then go to the dealership to get the correct miles put on it or can I just take the cluster itself?

Can dealerships also flash it for the ABS/Traction Control lights to where they don't show up? I'd rather not see those lights at all. Also I don't want to hear that beep when I go over 75. I'm guessing they can remove those too?

Last, if the cluster needs to be installed on the car before taking it to the dealership, will my tune effect the process in any way? Should I revert back to stock while they are doing everything?

3. If I wait to go to the dealer to reflash, will the miles I put on the car during the time I drive with the new cluster be lost? Does the car keep track of the mileage elsewhere?

And finally, for those who have done this, what is the cost for reflashing at a dealer?

so this thread thr7yrs old and nobody gas figured out how to do this without having to pay a stealership ok ill give you the rundown-
1.take your old cluster apart all the way so you can see the backs of stepping motors , keeping it organized on your left side .
2. Do the same thing to your new cluster but organize it to the right.
read the little numbers on the stepping motor caps they identify your gears inside the motors.
3. One at a time swap out only the middle gear and caps from each motor making sure not to lose orientation of gear that will be on bottom (suggest a fine tip sharpies mark them) so old clusters center gears are now in new clusters board and new are in old board
4. Make sure all caps are locked in place with clips and flip assembly over. (So you can read the cluster)
5. Pry gently between indicator arm cap and face plate of cluster ( the are friction fit and will come off) remove all indicator arms from both clusters
6. Swap the face plates and replace the indicator arms .
7. Reassemble both clusters remember to keep left and right separate , old cluster left , new on the right.
8. Congratulations you just realized the cluster on the left is now your freshly repeated and updated faceplate swapped cluster that retains all programming and information necessary to put your money in your pocket,, insuch a manner as your 4guage 6cyl cluster is now a 4 guage gt cluster reading a top speed of 140mph , 4 for 4 / 6for 6 , if your trying to swap a 4guage out for a 6gauge , get the wallet out and go had it to ford , instructions above are K.I.S.S. approved easy way to buy a cheap online eBay style cluster and make the change, oh sidenote this is a delicate job requires patience, so if your meat fingers and in a hurry Ford dealer will gladly hold your wallet for you. Proper planning prevents poor preformance. Good luck yall.

I'm not exactly sure where this is going. I swapped my first GT 6 gauge, mycolor cluster in 2011 into my 2007 and drove that for a year. I found a pony mycolor cluster 6 gauge set up and put that in. Again no problems. No dealer reflash on either. I did go into the computer with Forscan and turned off the 4 wheel ABS. Everything has worked perfectly for 8 years so far.

I'd just find a compatible year, 6 gauge mycolor head, and put that in. If you have the ABS light on, just use the Forscan app and clear that code. This is a very quick and simple swap to a 6 gauge, with or without mycolor option. It takes longer to swap out that mycolor dash switch than it does the cluster, lol.
