Default 05 Roush vert top broken - no ETA on parts - no loaner - RANT RANT RANT

Kinda long...but have to RANT!

My 4 month old 05 Roush 'vert broke. The top would not close after I arrived at work. a bracket in the mechanism bent, top inoperable - stuck mid-way.

The dealer (Frontier Ford, Santa Clara) takes the car in that day, and later the service writer calls me to tell me the following:
1. it's covered under warranty
2. He but has no ETA on parts. Maybe two weeks. They don't know.
3. No loaner cars available.
4. Call Ford corp if you are unhappy.

So I call Ford corp. They say that since the dealer has no ETA on parts, then Ford cannot help me. What was that? Come again? You just earned 100 points for bizarre answer of the year. So Ford corp can only help you if you don't have a problem? Huh? "Thanks for nuttin Danny!"

So I call the sales manager to tell him my predicament and he sticks with the line - no loaner car available to me since I did not buy the ESP. Gotta love that. Thanks Frontier Ford. Thank you verrrrrry much.

I USED TO consider this a premium vehicle. Based on the dealer and Ford's behavior, no longer does any Roush or Ford automobile deserve that respect.

That being said, I still love that car. It's a machine. Things break. Yeah, I know. But what just jerks my gherkin is knowing that if a "premium" car like a 41k+ ROush vert has an issue like this, the dealer and Ford corp will tell the customer that he is on his own for alternate transportation whilst Ford stumbles sthrough supplier management 101 with a slack-jaw-yokem attitude.

Ridiculous.

Laughable.

Weak.

I buy a 40k+ vehicle, a warranted part breaks, but since Ford has a parts supply problem, I get reamed and have to rent a car for weeks.
Even Honda offers loaners for cases far less ridiculous than this.

California's Song-Beverly lemon law countdown: 24 days to go before Ford Corp repurchase proceedings begin.

I should have bought the Ms convertible....I can't believe I just said that.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties.
I have been going through a similar thing (see "Check Engine Thread" in the V-8 Specific Forum) but was fortunately able to secure a loaner. Ford will have to pay for that and it's already been over a month!
It almost sounds like you should go to an outside garage, get it temporarily closed and wait until they have the parts. I'm still waiting for my new 3-Valve engine...
Let me know if you hear anything about the buy-back process. If I ever get my GT back and it breaks again I will have to go that way.
Bets of luck!

Uh oh - sounds like our first forum member case of my previous post [:@]

Ask about a buy-back. Tell them you've already heard of 2005 Verts being bought back because of this and see what they say. I know you don't to give your car back, but if they don't have a fix for a recall - then I would think they would have to buy it back or succumb to the Lemon Law.

Your first mistake was not getting a car from the dealer when you dropped yours off. Now it is going to be very hard to get them to give you one.

Call Ford Corp again... Do not talk to the person that answers the phone... they have no powers to actually do anything - - instead, immediately ask as the agent for a supervisor.

Tell the supervisor your problem and end your statement with - Ford is expected by law to have reasonable stock on hand... and that their lack of inventory management is NOT your fault so you will not allow yourself to be punished because of Ford Motor Companies inadequate supply system. Tell them this is totally unacceptable and that you fully expect them deliver a rental car to your home before days end... Tell them they can obtain a ford car for you at (insert phone number here!). ((To avoid their stupid “no cars available statement!))â€

THIS is one of the areas where ford is losing money. They have been fighting with their supply systems for a few years now and rapidly losing the battle. Supply is the reason for delays on ordered cars and the primary reason for delays on car repairs.

Me for example.. I waited 53 days for body side molding for my stang before they finally arrived… I have also been waiting 6 weeks for a stupid piece of trim that is bad on my vert top. It finally arrived but the dealership can’t get me a car until next week.
attle.

PW, can you refer me to what if any real law exists in that regard? Or is this really a bluff?

Mr Meany...

I believe there is actuall law, however I will state I don't know exactly what statute.

Also.. The automakers are required to make parts for a car for I believe it is 5 years from production.... part of that law is then used to prevent some of the aftermarket part people from selling their goods in the US legally, untill after the 5 year mark, which is where that "Oh, that is a dealer item" crap comes from..

Given all that... if Ford keeps making the news with their Supply Problems.. it will NOT be a good thing!.. Not at ALL a good thing.

I will be wierd to see Ford owned by Hitachi Motors!

Or worse... Hundai Ford... []

Sorry to hear about the crappy service you got. Not all dealers are alike. Earnhardt Ford out here in the Chandler, Mesa, Tempe area is by far the WORST dealer I have ever dealt with. I won't go into details about those *****. However, Berge Ford has been AWESOME! Even before we bought my wifes new truck there they took care of us in the service department.

My suggestion is take it a different dealer, warranty work is warranty work. Let them know you're getting the runaround at the other dealership and wanted to see about taking your future business to this new dealership. (be honest about it though). I think that part of the reason Berge takes so good care of us is that I did just that. I complained to them how terrible Earnhardt was and how we just moved out here from CA and wanted to find a dealership for service and future vehicle purchases. That line about 'no ESP so no loaner' is a line of baloney. ANY car under warranty gives a free loaner. My moms 97 escort even gets a loaner (on repairs over a hundred since it's out of warranty).

Good luck!

So I got some good news to report. Mostly.

Got a call from the service writer yesterday, parts are all in and they are working on it, and it should be ready today (Friday). That was a surprising call considering two days earlier they had "no idea" when the parts will come in.

However, today I called and he told me that they won't have it finished until Monday or Tuesday. Go figure. Wrong info again.

I also learned that they sub this out locally "so it's done right the first time". I think that's a good thing?!?!
So I will be getting the black beast back soon!!! Yes!!! Can't wait!!!

I just really wish they could provixe a better status, and not scare the crap out of you with indefinate answers like I received.

And then....
I borrowed my mother in law's Mercedes while mine is in the shop, and a friggin stray golfball from the golf course next door to where I work pinged the hood of the car and left a dimple right smack in the middle of the hood. FAS At least the golf course seems to be handling that well....but of all cars to hit, my *****-n-law's!
RARGH!

Listen, bad thing happen in three's. You have on left. Stay inside, don't light the stove, don't take shower, don't plug anything in. Perhaps stub your toe on a piece of furniture on purpose just to end it all already?
