Shaker 500 question

Btw I have a working shaker head unit up for grabs. A couple of buttons have the paint chipping but other than that she's perfect.

I have about as much experience with the Shaker system as a day old infant, but I have read you can get all the components needed to replace the system and retain all the features. Think I read an article on Crutchfield about it.

I would also go speak with a reputable Electronics shop.
the '05-'09 Shaker systems are fairly simple to replace with other equipment; four 5.5"x7.5" speakers powered by a brick radio, and 8" subwoofers in the doors with the subwoofer amps in the kick panels. The sub amps (IIRC) are low sensitivity and reach full output with 250 mVrms input, so some tweaking will be needed with an aftermarket HU putting out 2 or 4 Vrms on the pre-outs.
