Default WIX Oil Filter vs a regular?

Title says it all. I am going to purchase AMSoil oil and a oil filter from their website but was wondering the different between a regular oil filter and a WIX. Having a hard time deciding which I should get.

Interesting read here about a lot of different oil filters...

Engine Oil Filter Study

I use WIX myself.

Wix is one of the better brands.

I like Purolator Pure One. Even more after reading the oil filter study.

I've been using the Amsoil Ea filters over the Motorcraft and others mainly because of my comfort level of being able to easily handle over 10,000 miles which is my oil change frequency. The Wix and even the OE Motorcraft are fine but I believe those and most others are good for about 7k-8k max.

It seems as the puroilator and motorcraft have the most square inches of coverage's.

I think the Amsoil Ea filters are probably the best there is. I used to use them, but I decided since I change my full synthetic (Pennzoil Ultra 5W20) oil every 5K miles, it wasn't worth the money. If I did, as Nuke does, and go 10K miles, I wouldn't even think of any filter other than Amsoil.

Can't go wrong with Motorcraft, Wix, Mobil 1, etc.

This is like asking which oil is best though. Everyone has an opinion so there's no straight answer.

If you don't know what to go with or are unsure, go Motorcraft, it's a safe bet. Even Motorcraft oil is a safe bet.

It's more important to change your oil on time and frequently than what oil and filter you put in it by my knowledge. I've also heard it's not good to frequently mix different brands of oil and that you should stick to one for your motor. Therefore, you could technically put Autozone brand oil in there every 3,000 miles for the life of the engine and you'll be good to go.

Just pick one, change it often enough, and go with it.

Wix is an awesome filter, but I love me some Motorcraft!

I generally just use the Motorcraft, but sometimes I use Wix.
