Default When it rains it pours.....

Have another post where my camshaft follower ate up a lobe on the camshaft. Replaced the cams with Hot Rod cams and changed the follower and lash adjuster on that cylinder.

Has a ticking sound at idle but seems to disappear when above idle. Thought maybe I f'd up the timing, so I talked with a mechanic who said if it is running ok and is not backfiring, timing should be ok. He said sounds like weak lash adjusters, take it for a test drive and see if it has loss of power.

Took it for a drive, and when I got on it, the clutch went out. The pedal is hard to press and does not disengage the clutch. Talk about a PIA getting it home, 2nd gear all the way hoping no one coming at the crossroads.

Does it sound like the slave cylinder took a crap or something else? Now I feel a shake in the driveline when I rev the engine. This is the stock clutch with 132k miles on it, surprised it lasted as long as it did with countless passes at the track. I appreciate any help on this, maybe someone else experienced the same.

I wonder if the diaphragm came apart or something else in the pressure plate went bang. if the slave cylinder went Tango Uniform I might expect a soft pedal.

Started removing everything to drop the trans, but ran out of daylight. Just have to remove the hydraulic line and drop it. I did notice this on the housing, is something from the inside from the outward crack.

Have a set on standby from when I had my transmission changed a few years ago. The shop "forgot to put the new ones in".

Also found this while looking inside one of the header collectors a few rays of sunlight shining through. They are ceramic coated Hooker shorties. Hoping that will be all that goes for a while, getting expensive.

That's a lot of miles on a bone stock clutch, especially with some spirited driving. Looks like something came apart and blew up in there. New clutch, flywheel, bellhousing, and throw out bearing. Sorry to hear, hope it doesn't get to costly beyond those parts!

Very rarely on the street, but at the track, that's a whole different story. Just surprised at how long it lasted, has not slipped once.
