Default Is this worth buying?

My 96 mustang is slowly degrading and I think instead of fixing the old girl I want to find a new one. I found a 2005 base with 115k miles on it. It's v6 automatic. They are asking $7k for it. I'm just trying to ponder if 115k miles is too many miles to be worth it

Kelley Blue Book has that car worth about $6700.

Tell the seller this and offer $5500, go from there. Would not go past $6500 for sure

I personally would not buy anything with that many miles on it unless I was in the low money range ($1000-$4000.) I'm not saying that's what you should offer or that's what that car's worth, but be careful buying something with so many miles.

However, if your budget is low, than I'd do what the above poster said and offer a considerably lower amount and go from there. Maintenance is key to high mileage: ask for repair receipts, proof of work, descriptions of work, etc. If it's a 1-owner car it helps a lot too.

This is the reason I want to sell my '06 before it hits 100k miles because the car's value takes a big hit when people see triple digit mileage.

I agree with others - if it's over 100k, it's in the $5k range at best, especially a car that's almost 10 years old and not in any way collectible.

I agree, but I would cut it off at 6200.

First test drive it and ask the dealer if you can take it home to think about it, if that's what you really want. Search autotrader and be sure to look at the carfax and check its history especially if its been in a wreck.

I would highly recommend holding out for a good deal on a 2007/8+ due to the revisions made to the car. Better spark plug design, fixed the leak issue, and interior comfort options available.

Personally wouldn't buy any automatic car with that many miles. You never know what you're gonna get transmission wise.
