2yr/6k mile oil change OK?
I'm kind of old school about a lot of things. Has the oil and oil filter technology gotten to the point where if you are a low mileage driver, you can change your oil and filter every two years or six thousand miles, whichever comes first? That's what Royal Purple says about its oil and filter. I always thought you needed to change the oil more often to get rid of acid buildup.
Your thoughts? Thanks.

Ever since my g/f (now wife) began living with me, my Stang's oil gets changed about 1/year. I don't care for leaving oil in the crankcase longer than that. I go with 1 year on full syn and 6 months on blend or dino. For our other cars with full syn, it's every 8k - 10k miles, depending on service (i.e., towing, city driving, etc).

Yeah, Art, I'm old school, too. Turning 59 in a few months but young at heart (a.k.a. immature and loving it).
It took me a bit to get myself to 10k mile oil changes but now I've been quit comfortable with that for about 15 years or more. I've sold quite a few cars with near or over 200k miles on them that were on the 10k mile oil change frequency with no issues, no loss of power. But the biggest benefit IMO is not being underneath the car as often. I currently have 4 cars to maintain and at my age, saving myself some on-my-back time (not including the wife) is priceless.
