Default Mustang 2007 /V6 4.0

Hi All,

First, about me: I’m Jozsef, I leave in Hungary, in Europe. One year ago I bought a Ford Mustang V6 /4.0. The care dealer brought it from California. Produced in 2007 December. The passed km are below 40000.
I like it very much, but unfortunately I have 2 problems with it. Could you please advise what to be check, may somebody had a similar issues:
1.,
When I stop the engine for a few (2-4) minutes only (for a sample at railway crossing) and I do not pull out the starting key, I sit in the car, the radio is on. After that, when I start the engine I experience, that the care is do not speed up so quickly as before and also I can hear the sound (from exhaust pipe) the tone is more deeper and louder. I have to pass about 20 km when it’s turning back to normal.
If I do not stop the engine when I waiting (just leave the engine to run), the problem not arise.

2.,
When I go to fuel station, the fuel level around half according to instrument of the car, it happened may times that only very few gasoline (1-2 liters) were possible to fill in. On the next day, when it was lower level in the tank, much below to half, then is possible to fill it to full.

I went to car service too, but they not seen any related problem from the board computer.

Your very much you feedback in advance.

Best Regards:
Jozsef

The first issue I do not know.

The second issue is a design flaw with the fuel tank (common problem). Some things that help are to fill the tank at a slower rate, or to rotate the fuel pump handle 90 degrees when you put fuel in (this normally helps the most). Also some places simply do not work as well as others, and I just avoid the placed I know do not work right.

his first problem sounds kind of like that recall where the fuel pump would get air in it and cause the car to hesitate.

Problem #1 doesn't sound like hesitation due to the fuel pump issue. The TSB that describes the fuel pump problem is totally unrelated to restarting. My only guess on #1 would be a sensor related problem that clears up shortly after a restart.

#2 is, as krazykevin mentions above, a chronic issue with these S197's due to fuel tank design. Slow down the fuel delivery, turn the pump handle as much as 135 degrees either way, insert the nozzle about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way into the tank. There's a TSB on this issue, also, but most people claim it didn't fix the problem.

Hi Nuke, Thank you for your answer. Regarding my firs problem, I thought also for a sensor problem. What do you think the knock sensor could cause this? Is there any "built-in" service menu for reading the fault codes from board computer? Or just a Ford service can do that?
