Easy and Cheap USB panel for aftermarket HU's
So I finally upgraded my factory base stereo to a Pioneer AVH-X2600BT. It comes with USB input and an extension cable, but I wanted something a tad more "installed" looking. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else wanted to do something similar.
So there is a pop out panel near the driver side of the center console. I popped that panel out.
I got a usb panel mount off ebay for around 15 bucks. It comes with a mounting bracket, but I discarded it.
Drilled out a 3/4" hole in the panel. Used a forstner bit but any 3/4" would work.
Then just push the usb panel in the hole and pop it back in the car.
Nothing too fancy but doesn't look out of place and cost less than $20 I also put a SPDT switch for my parking brake bypass. If I wan't to pop in a video for a passenger on a long road trip I can just reach in the console and bypass the P-brake, otherwise it is still restricted when driving.
