LOUD "DIESELING" NOISE AT IDLE
#21
I have researched this issue to the ends of the internet universe. So many people have the same issue as I do...or something close. And the folks who start throwing parts at the problem wind up out of money, pissed off and still at the same place they were before. Very concerning. And then I see propaganda like that link above (which, I would tend to believe as "true" because that's exactly the type of strategy carmakers use daily when trying to save money or appease CAFE)

Reason I asked what oil and how many miles on that oil is because 5w20 after a few thousand miles isn't going to give the same pressure as fresh oil. It's going to shear some. Lots of f150 owners quit running 5w20 because of the noise.
I'd love to hear from anyone with a oil pressure gauge that has 75psi at 2,000 rpms, anyone?
There have been a few people with failed chain tensioners around 100k miles. check out the videos in this link.

Take a gander at that and see what you think about 5w20.

visit a f150 forum and see how many are still using 5w20 in their trucks. Keep in mind that the coyotes spec 5w20, unless you have the track pack option, then it's 5w50! Same damn engine in both!
How are you going to connect an oil pressure gauge? Spin on adapter on the oil filter? there's not really a good way other than that.

It is sandwiched between the filter and block. I read it makes it near impossible to get the filter on and off without removing the sway bar. They aren't very expensive and I've considered getting one just to see my oil pressure. I'd love to know the difference in oil pressure between 10w30 and 5w20.

Got the gauge installed and already typed out the results once in a long post, then flipped this site the bird once I pressed "post" and discovered I had to log back in and retype that whole manuscript.
Will re-post after I cool down in a few days. "Eff that noise!"

Maybe you gave up too soon. Or maybe the site really didn't like you that day.
Hang in there.
