Meh...I'm honored...not like much of what you have to say is worth the time either.
And you've been posting over 11k times...That's a lot of nothing good to say.
Used GT500 compared to a new 2014 GT Premium. I got that. You don't seem to get it. New 2014 is a better deal and more fun long term than any pre-2013 USED GT500.
Here's some salt in the wound... a direct quote from the owner of a pre-2013 Shelby GT500.
That said... what I said still stands. For a car with little value retention to begin with.... modding it would only devalue it more. Driving it alone would devalue it. So why care if its a Shelby GT500? If the goal is to have more fun and mod and see results that are more impressive.... go for the 2014 GT. Its new to begin with.
Basically if you're going to mod the GT500 you might as well debadge it. Because the more you mod it and drive it the closer in value it comes to 2014 GT Premium modded.

I've changed my vote to the Shelby.. A Shelby is a Shelby and will always be. A supercharged 5.0 may be faster but the name alone is worth it. And it will hold value much better in the long run. Just bite the bullet and get a 13-14 GT 500 and end the debate all together haha. But 2010 Shelby > 2014 GT. Superchhrged or not.

But, like it was said ...there are so many of the modern ones they just aren't special. If a used 2010 GT500 is selling at 35k with moderate mileage on it its still a far cry from what it sold retail we're talking 50% depreciation. If you plan on driving it....and adding more miles to it...its values will decrease from there..... Unless you somehow manage to have the one and only 2010 Shelby GT500 left in the world in 20 years....you're kidding yourself.
Consider this...in 30 years when all the 5.0's have been beat to crap and no longer easy to find in one piece they will likely increase in value for good to mint condition due to the perceived rarity or the factual rarity. Whereas the Shelby's will likely plateau or continue to devalue...
In either case the value the owner places on it is totally subjective and may never be realized.
If the OP is looking at a vehicle purchase as an investment...there are far better specialty cars to look at which will retain its value or increase as they age.
If he's looking at a purchase for the fun factor...he'll still have more with the 2014 5.0 over the 2010 GT500. Both will set him back the same amount of scratch.
If you're stuck on a name and How the GT 500 owner I quoted says...drinking from the Shelby koolaid.... then you're never gonna get it...until we approach this subject in the next 20 years and all the GT500 owners are scratching their heads as to why these wonderful collector cars...aren't so "unaffordable" .
The only GT500 that would possibly hold more value and then see an increase would be the 2013-14 GT500 with the Trinity powerplant since it is a 2 year run and will truly be a rarer find than all the rest...including this 2010 GT500.
If you BELIEVE otherwise then IMO you're on crack... And until 20 years comes around anything said is just speculation. But, if you're building a portfolio of projections you only have current trending to build information on...and current trends say...they ain't special enough to warrant the cost now or in the future.
With the only exception being a 2013 -14 Shelby GT 500.

Don't know if the OP is still looking, if so don't pay $35,000 for the 2010, that's too high at least according to Edmunds for a base model GT500.
Get all the options as well as condition, then run it through all the online appraisers to come up with a fair price for you.

Get off the Shelby name. The car is not a Shelby, it's a ford svt cobra that ford paid big bucks to use the Shelby name on to boost sales.
What the OP need to do is look at this as what it truly is. New GT or 4yr old cobra?

You hardly see them because...After spending so much on them the owners are afraid to drive them out of fear of hearing the coins falling out the exhaust as the value drops for every mile they put on it.
Funny though...every time I take the kids to a Mustang club sponsored car show or drive-ins the pre 2013 s197 Shelby's are all over the place. And a lot of the same ones with the same "for sale" sign on them,,,still waiting to find a buyer.
Probably tired of getting smacked down by a moderately modded 5.0 GT.

The GT500 has a forged bottom end and they put in a different tranny. The GT 6 speed has a lot of issues and is very notchy when shifting. That means it is much easier to miss a shift with the GT. I have a 2012 GT with a Roush SC and I like it but the tranny is a piece of ****. It had to be rebuilt at 5000 miles. Re-tune the GT500 with a different intake and pulley and it will be faster with less issues at the track.
However, if you are rally racing the GT is better balanced for cornering.
