Default does salt cause damage/rust if its in your garage?

this last winter was my first time driving the stang but i parked in my garage and over the months the garage floor was FILLED with salt and sand. I have been really sick but yesterday i finally managed to clean out the garage and sweep out all the sand and salt.

can salt/sand cause rust just by being in the garage floor with my car? do you think I got any rust from all these months? this was the cars 1st winter, though its an 07 but i will store it in the winters from now on.

If there's salt on the floor of your garage, chances are real good that your tires are going to pick some of it up, which means some of it will get on the inner fender wells, which means that it could be a problem over time.

A good brushless car wash with an undercarriage powerwash option is in order for you

If your garage isn't airtight and climate controlled stuff will rust anyway, happened to my car last winter. My headers and stuff looked good when I put the car away in November, then when I started working on it in January-February there was new bright orange rust all over the place!

Salt gets into nooks and grannies.....it's going to rust either way!

Rust is oxidation, doesn't really have much to do with salt. Although salt will accelerate it and corrosion, it isn't the primary cause. Unless your car is in an oxygen and/or moisture free environment, it's going to rust.
