Default side scoops?

Been thinking of getting these:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustan...coop-0509.html

they are the best looking ones IMO, I feel like the side of my car looks too stock, and I'm not really a fan of quarter window louvers.

What do you think of them? I'm hoping they will add more curves and aesthetics to my car.

I agree that it's a little plain, but I haven't seen any side scoops that don't look like they were just slapped on for decoration. If those are my choices, I would stick with stock.

Pulled off the quarter window louvers that were on mine when I bought it for the same reason.

of all the side scoops available for the mustang, those are easily the ugliest.

OEM style or nothing at all.

A non-functional ornamental only retro look? BLEh.

If ford made an actual channel in the fender well that worked with a brake cooling upgrade kit so that side scoop could serve some purpose....Maybe. As is the only purpose it serves is to add drag.

It was a functional cooling duct on some Shelby's back in the day. Anything afterwards has been trying to imitate that classic look but, certainly not functional.

There was a Televised custom earlier s197 build up of a Carrol Shelby commissioned 800+HP supercharged street-able Mustang where they actually performed the work required to make the duct functional. While Carrol Shelby was still alive. If I can track down the show and episode I'll share it here.

I remember them even saying in the show WTF is the reason for having it if it doesn't work except to add unnecessary drag?

Boom

it's common all the time on vehicles, GTOs, firebirds, camaros, mustangs, X5, I can think of many cars over the years that had some stuff added to them that was available from the factory that implied a look that never did anything. One of the funnier examples I can think of is the 82-84 Z/28. In '84 the duct work was sealed. in prior years, functional. No real reason why they removed it. That carried into the IROCs which had louvers that were sealed, and Trans Am's with hoods with vents up front and the sides that had no purpose.

Here it is Diva....this is a Link to an Article about it...The car was actually commisioned by Carrol Shelby himself from West Coast Customs. For a limited run of 25 custom built Mustangs.
