So my items has finally arrive I have the steeda CAI and supercharge pulley just waiting on my bama x4 hand held tuner. I ask the shop to have my pulley installed and they quoted at $125 ans $500 for the dyno tune. Is it worth having my car dyno tune if im not going to race? Or can I just simply have them install the pulley and use my hand held tuner. How much more hp would I gain with the dyno tune on pump gas and is it that much of a difference?

That sounds awfully steep for a dyno tune but then, I haven't priced them for a long time.

If you were NA, I'd say go with a custom tune from BAMA or Brenspeed since you'd come pretty close to a dyno tune with a good custom. But being FI, you have more to gain from a good dyno shop.

$500 isn't awful but it isn't cheap either. I have seen them go anywhere from $400-$650 or so.

Yeah I can't afford $500 atm as I just spend close to 1k. How much most hp gain tho a rough estimate so I can get an idea. Are we talking about 50hp or more?

Ask the shop how much they think you'll pick up with a dyno tune. TPS/Borelli or AED should be able to give you a straight answer, since they do this kind of thing all day long. $500 for a forced induction dyno tune is about the going price in CA.
Is it worth it though? It depends on how good the Bama tune is and how good the dyno tuner is. I'd give the Bama tune a try, but pay extra attention to all sounds, if it starts pinging or rattling under WOT, get off it and either get in tuch with Bama or schedule a dyno tune. Getting a dyno tune would probably be more about having a good safe tune than getting extra power, although the extra power is a benefit. I don't think you'd get 50 more HP from a dyno tune, but 20-40 maybe.

the bama tune came straight from AM so it should be good right? i would still need the hand held tune that i purchase from AM to be able to do the dyno tune anyways correct? i can't just pick one or can i? i mean dyno tune is $500 bama hand held tune is $464.

No, you still need a handheld tuner even for a dyno tune, maybe not the $464 one, as you paid a little extra for the tunes, and they should be good, but if you decide to do dyno in the future, the SCT X4 can be used to load the dyno tuners tune to the car.

With FI I think a Dyno tune is a good way to make sure everything is running properly. You will probably gain some hp but most likely nothing great. Dyno tuning is more about checking the cars parameters

With your current mods there won't be a huge difference between our custom email tune and a Dyno tune. Once you start to get further into the modifications it may be a good idea to strap her down to the rollers!

I see thanks guys I will probably ditch the dyno tune for now and just have them install the pulley and I will install the CAI myself to have money. Once both parts are install I will tune it.


Not that im going to do it but, what would happen if I was to install the CAI and pulley without tuning? Would the car still run? And if it does would it cause some problem in the future?
