Default MT-82 Problems?

Hey guys,
I have seen so much bashing on our MT-82 transmissions...and I guess i don't understand. I have had two, a 2011 GT and a 2012 GT, and I have had ZERO issues ( knock on wood ). But can someone tell me why these things get bashed so much on other forums such as moddedmustangs.com?

What should people like me be looking for?

Thanks, Matt

IMHO, most do not have problems. Also my guess is that only a small number of all mustang owners frequent forums. Those that don't have issues don't go on forums to say everything is fine. I'm sure some do have legitimate issues and those are the ones that post.
Kind of skews things.

A big problem with these transmissions was the gear oil. I've rarely driven my '12 GT in the cold months, but when I did it was an absolute son-of-a-bitch to shift when cold. Meaning, I literally had to double-clutch the 1-2 upshift and any 3-2 or 2-1 downshift until the entire car had warmed up. I had the trans serviced according to the TSB (which says to replace the original gear oil with the oil for the dual-clutch transaxle) and it's been as smooth as silk ever since. sometime in the middle of 2012 model year the change was made to make the dual-clutch oil the factory fill.

you have a Tremec 3650. Totally different trans than the Getrag MT82.

Some early 2011 models had issues with shifting or even the synchro gears getting turned into shrapnel in the tranny.

Had to do with incorrect tranny gear oil viscosity and some of the materials being used for certain gears.

The other 'big' thing was that the tranny was designed in Germany but built in China so people bandwaggoned that too.

It's a forum it's what some do. 2011 was the first year for that stang so people should understand there will be bugs as will the second year but by the time the 3 and 4 year comes around it's ironed out. There are few types of people that are on forums. People who are genuine about cars. People like that will learn things and pass it on and just have a love for cars. And then there are trolls. Ones who bash all the time or complain.

That's a forum
