Default used bama sxt tuner

So I'm looking to buy a used bama sxt tuner the guy says it's not married to the car and he has 3 custom tunes for the same stuff that I got for my car and I just didn't install yet. My question is will it be just plug and play with my car or will I have to reprogram anything

You can use the tuner as long as it's unmarried but tunes are not transferable. You would need to still purchase tunes from a tuner.

When I bought my tuner years ago from AM (MustangTuning I think at the time), I had to provide a small code that was on the door. That code must have something to do with the computer, and I don't think there would be a difference for newer cars meaning you would need a new tune on the handheld device if you wanted to tune your car.

Yes, they will ask you for the code on your PCM.

As everyone said - the tunes are written for the specific ECU programming code on the car. You get that on a 2005+ off the ECU (4 digit/letter) tag. So even though you may have the exact same mods, unless you also have exactly the same ECU identity the programs won't work. If you try to upload them your car will turn into a nice brick because you won't likely be able to load the stock tune back on either.
