I would disagree...

It would be all the Camaro fanboys who pull up and act like they can take down a 5.0 only to find out they shouldn't have botherd. That is the gas mileage killer ina Mustang

Best way to get good MPG is to buy something where that was it's top priority in the first place like a Nissan Versa or a VW golf TDI.

Absolutely true! You can buy gas saving gadgets until you're out of money, but your driving style and driving conditions will determine your fuel economy more than ANYTHING.

To the OP sorry about your situation.
Yes, that extra 500 pounds of vehicle weight carried around by those Camaros is hard for them to overcome with their pushrod V8. That said, I wouldn't take on one of them with my 4.6 though.
