broke my e-brake cable

you shouldn't need the e brake handle, (Altho, an excuse for an upgrade is always nice)

if you open your center console, you'll see that little access flap thing you can remove. if you take that off there is a nut that threads onto a long threaded rod, connected to the cable. thats what gets replaced, not the emergency brake handle assembly

Its sold from ford as a full assembly. My old lever was fully functional. There are aftermarket versions online that just have the cable. You will have to reuse the old junction with the stand alone cable. The bolt that the nut rides along is mushroomed at the top. So if you would like to go the route of just the cable you will need to cut the old one out then slide the new on through. Is it worth the extra $70 to you? That is your call. I am not sure about the GT500 version.
