Default cai questions

I'm looking to buy a cai that is on cl but I want to find out if there is a difference between a intake that is for a manual or automatic. The guy also told me that the intake does not need a tune. Is it better to buy a intake that requires a tune since I'm planning on tuning the car in the near future.
The intake is a steeda cai

as far as i know, ALL steeda CAI's require a tune. Don't know what to tell you about auto or manual, there may be a difference on the newer ones.
I would ask the guy for the model number, and look it up on the Steeda website.

None, just the tune.

Wrong. The auto has an extra hose that goes to the brake booster that the manual does not.

The one for the auto.

Interesting. I'm surprised that Steeda does not make a single CAI kit that can be adapted for Manual or AT use by the simple addition/omission of the necessary hose.

I have the AirRaid CAI; I believe that it is a single kit used for both Manual and AT; for AT, you add a additional hose piece and for Manual, you plug off the hole with a rubber stopped that is included with the kit.

Concerning the tune, you may buy the CAI without the tune and slap it in with no ill effects. You will not gain anything; or if you actually gain something, you will only see it as a miniscule increase on a dyno. Otherwise, don't expect the CAI-only installation to pull out any more power that throws you back harder into your seat.

In short, you can buy the CAI now and when you are ready to buy a tune, tell your tuner that you have the CAI and they can tune for it being on your engine.

All you have to do is call our toll free line at 1-800-950-0774 & tell them what you need based on what you purchase & what your car is.

The Intakes do need a tune. We did start selling a kit which was no tune required so inquire about the date of his purchase.

Best Regards,

TJ

So this looks like it would be for a automatic?
