Deysha, I too had paint bubbling but was able to catch it in time before my warranty expired. Now that Ford fixed it, if (God forbid) for some reason the corrosion came back, will Ford fix again? Their workmanship should be guarantied no?

It's not on top of the hood. Look under like around where welding seems would be. At least that's where mine were.

If the issue was with manufacturing, then wouldn't the replacement hood be affected eventually?
A Ford Service manager told me that the only cure for it is an after market hood.

That depends on what warranty your dealer has on their work, 07 Stang. You need to speak with your service manager.

Its not a rust issue as aluminum doesnt rust, this is a corrosion issue and it isnt caused by water. And sorry to say but, yes, your car has seen water.

if the root cause is iron contamination as has been said, then water contributes. Simply sticking aluminum and iron together won't cause corrosion without an electrolyte. When water comes in (especially salt water) the two dissimilar metals generate a tiny voltage which erodes the more reactive aluminum.

I understand, Cstang1988. The Corrosion Perforation Warranty covers body sheet metal panels against corrosion due to a defect in factory-supplied material or workmanship.

Corrosion coverage only applies if the corrosion causes perforation (holes) in body sheet metal panels. If corrosion does not cause perforation (holes), or is the result of usage and/or environmental conditions, corrosion warranty would not apply.

Rust caused by exposed sheet metal from accidents or normal wear and tear are not defects in material or workmanship. The paint on the vehicle is covered under the terms of the Bumper to Bumper Warranty.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty coverage begins at the Warranty Start Date and lasts for five years, regardless of miles driven.

The time, distance, and limitations of warranty coverage may vary depending upon the model year of the vehicle.

Also, as per your warranty guide:

(3) Your vehicle’s body sheet metal panels are covered for an extended
Corrosion Coverage Period, which lasts for five years, regardless of miles
driven. The extended warranty coverage only applies if a body sheet
metal panel becomes perforated due to corrosion during normal use due
to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or factory
workmanship.

I hope this helps.
