Cool New Rear Axle and Poly Bushings Install

Hey guys,

I want to do my first write up on this forum. I have ordered a new fully assembled 8.8 Ford Racing rear end with 3:73 gears. I plan to take out the old diff (this refers to the entire rear end not just the diff) and then take out the controller arms upper and lower and replace the bushings with poly (red) and then put them back and then put in the new diff. I will upload some pics in a bit. Why the hell does this type of sites (similar software on many forums) make is so damn difficult to upload pictures! Crap....

Anyway Ill get on it and will keep you guys updated as I get this done this weekend.

Use imgur.com to upload the pictures and then put the direct link in an img tag like this:

PHP Code:

Good luck doing in a parking spot, make sure you have the tools ready to remove the old rubber bushing and a press to push in the new poly ones. Don't forget the bell housing bushing, you will need a new one because you aren't getting the old rubber one out without destroying it.

Yup got a hand torch as well as wire brushes. The new diff came with a new bushing but I got one in the kit I ordered as well. A new Poly one.

OK I got 90% done and she is about ready to be dropped. However I started to look at the bushings on everything, the sway bar and panhard bar and lower control arm bars. I dont see anything wrong with them. Can you guys see a reason to change them out? I dont take her to the track and I just can not see putting in the hours to remove the old ones.

Thoughs

Chances are there is nothing wrong with them unless you been seriously driving every day. People change them because they like the stiffer feel of Poly more than they need to be changed.

stupid question, but what can this rear handle? I'm looking to max out at 650rwhp in the future, 700 tops (with a new lower end) but right now sitting at 450rwhp give or take... I dont want 4.10s because of the highway driving I do (70 miles one way to work nearly all highway), and thought this was a really good deal.... any more info?
