Default 2006 v6 upgrades

Hello all

I'm new to the whole forum scene... Read them but never took part in them. I'm just curious what type of upgrades one would do to a 2006 4.0L to get a bit more bang for the buck? I have an off brand intake, full exhaust and headers but that's about it. Where should I go from here?

If you aren't tuned you should get that done... that way you can take full advantage of the other things you have done already, another mod is new cam shafts. But... to get a lot of power you need to go with some type of forced induction.

^ This.

If you don't have the $$ to go FI, then after the tune, you've pretty much shot your wad for the bigger bang mods. You can nickle and dime some RWHP with lighter wheels, aluminum DS, maybe go with gears for a bit quicker and a few other minor single-digit RWHP mods.

Supercharger. Otherwise trade in your car for a GT.

Thank you for the responses. I dont really feel like spending 3k plus for forced induction. I will get the car tuned and see what that does for me.

With a good custom tune, you will feel a drastic change in performance. American Muscle/Bama Tunes and Brenspeed are good reputable companies that make solid custom tunes.
Another option is taking your car to a local performance shop to get dyno tuned.

Not much minus a supercharger/turbo... I had a supercharger on my 4.0 and found out real quick I was at the top of a short ladder. If I could do it again I would have done the V8 swap before boosting the 4.0

You'd probably still see single digit HP gains but since the engine was originally tuned for 87 octane, a 91 octane tune (with 91 octane in the tank of course) will at least make the car feel more responsive.
