trunk carpet/board is flimsy
I noticed it a couple months ago. Put anything more than a couple pounds and it sinks into the empty wheel well. Nothing wet was there, no cracks in the board... Anyone else have this? How'd you fix it? Thanks in advance. Car is '12 GT.

Yeah mine is pretty lame as well, luckily I don't have to put anything in there other than my air compressor and such. I'm sure just a piece of cardboard underneath might stiffen it up a bit, but mine doesn't dive into the wheel well like yours, so maybe yours is just more worn in than mine.

I'm not clear as to whether your car was delivered without a spare tire or whether you removed it. IIRC, if there is a spare tire in the well, there is a metal post going through the center of the wheel, and that provides support for the fiberboard. There might also be some stuff (jack handle?) that sits on top of the tire and provides support. I'm not sure how much support the tire itself provides, but it would certainly keep things from sinking into the wheel well. I don't know what support is provided for cars that are delivered with an air compressor and a plug to fix a flat.

I put a sheet of 1/4" plywood under the trunk mat and it holds up pretty well now. The idea that all the weight on the mat is being held up by that little rod coming through the spare is not well thought out.
