Default Upgrading My 2009 Mustang Shaker 500 System

So this will be my first time upgrading any car audio.. (or even tried to etc)...

I have the shaker 500 system and im looking at a kicker component system to upgrade my Door Speakers..http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2064CSS...84.html?tp=106

Right now im planning on keeping my 8" Door Subs and the rear deck stock (low on cash)...

Should i be getting an amp for the new kickers? I know that normally you shoulldnt use an aftermarket amp on stock speakers but im a bit over my head..Trying to figure out what i should do

Not sure I would go with those speakers but if that's what you want you will be fine.

I put 6.5 components in mine and to tell the truth, I would probably have been just as well off going with the kicker 5x7's. Unless you're running a bigger amp you really don't need components unless your plan is to add on later.

Then yes, you're headed in the right direction then. IIRC JBL makes a 5x7 component speaker set that would match up better if you're interested. May be a little pricey though.

If you haven't done this yet I have a couple other thoughts.

The 6x8's you are using will give you a better bass response for sure, so while you're installing them may I recommend putting some sound deadener in the door sub cavities. It will get rid of the echoing type bass and make it more precise and hit with more clarity. The door subs aren't terrible and most experts say either keep them or change them out after you replace the other things if you are on a budget. The rear speakers in the back? I wouldn't worry with them. I changed mine simply because I had an extra set of speakers, but while they are full range speakers most of the sound is in the front sound stage and the back is mostly filler. So don't worry with them, for what they do they aren't terrible either.

I sound proofed my doors and those cavities when I swapped out speakers and the difference was remarkable. But if you just do the door sub cavities it will make an improvement.

Good luck
