That's strange, I lived on a dirt road for the last 4 and no rattling or dust issues. I'm sure there is better like the mgw. I just don't think it's better enough to make a 300.00 change when a short throw is already in place with no issues

Mine is driving me nuts!!! I called Hurst for a rebuild kit.. it don't exist.. There's a good 1/8" slop top to bottom... rattles like crazy! DO NOT buy the Hurst!!!

I'm searching as well.. I won't reinstall the factory shifter...

The 2 Allen screws are most likely loose. Mine loosened up once over the years and moved front to back like slop. Check it out and use locktite if that's the case

Default MGW

+1 for the MGW. When installing it in my 2010 GT, I found that it was hitting my driveshaft safety loop (Moroso/Competition Engineering) in 1st and 3rd gear. Just something to look out for.

When I got my 05 used in 2007 one of the first things I did was install a Hurst shifter and I never regretted it. I greased it and used lock washers and the rattle issue stayed away. It is notchy but that is something I can live with. My friend has a MGW and it feels way tighter but the shift seems a little longer and lets be honest the classic look of a hurst shifter is priceless. Just my 2 cents.
