I just bought a 2006 GT convertible, and it is missing a small trim part on the steering wheel (see picture below). The dealer says the part is not available separately, and I'll have to buy the complete cruise control button assembly (which costs $150 and requires removing the airbag). I'm hoping someone might have this part from a steering wheel they've replaced or maybe a car being parted out.

I would of course be willing to pay a fair price.

Check with local salvage yards, might get lucky.

If it is at a salvage yard, I'm sure they wouldn't sell just the tiny piece. They would probably sell the unit as a whole assembly as well. Try looking on craigslist for someone parting out a wrecked 05-10 mustang. Shouldn't matter if it's a GT or v6 because they both have the same layout as far as the steering wheel. I did a quick search and could only find the whole assembly. You might have to bite the bullet and buy the assembly if you can't find it. I wouldn't buy it from the stealership though

Thanks, Jay. I just checked with Prestige -- they're only interested in selling me the whole steering wheel. Does LMR have perhaps the whole cruise control button assembly?

Might seem silly, but have you had a good root around under the floor mats and seats? It might have just fallen off.... Happened to me the other day, I need to get some crazy glue or something to reattach it.

Huh, I've never seen that piece missing before. I'd get a new 2012 Gt500 steering wheel for $185 before I paid $150 for some buttons lol.

I just saw one on eBay but someone already bought it. Keep an eye out, I'm sure they pop up from time to time
