Default whoever was responsible for the front control arms for the S197 needs a talkin' to

brought my car to the dealer last month for the infamous front end creaking and popping while braking or going over speed bumps. They slapped new control arms on it (thankfully I had a factory service plan or else this would have been out of pocket) and today I find the replacement control arms are creaking and groaning worse than the ones I had replaced. someone really screwed the pooch on this one.

I spoke with a service Mgr. at my dealership who stated the front arms were redesigned for 2014. You might try an see if the arms you had replaced were 2012 or 2014 arm design?

Have you visually verified new LCAs?
The factory service plan barely pays for the labor not to mention the parts.
They probably just greases up all the mounting points and sent you on your way.
Thats the kind of service you get with the extended warranty, sorry to say.
The behind the scenes at the dealerships are very different than what they
want you to believe. Been there, seen that, and quit because of the thievery going on.
There are crooks out there, even at the stealerships...

There is no metal to metal contact there.
Lots of thick rubber bushings and such.
I replaced mine with the greasable MOOG LCAs.
It could be your upper strut mounts or your
sway bar links...
Have them go for a test ride with you and
point out the noise that is still there.
Have them show you your old worn out LCAs...

Check the end links on the sway bar they might be loose. Best way is to remove the front wheels and check for play on the sway bar end links, a nice tug back and forth will do. When I had a problem similar to yours thats what it ended up being. GL

The repair order says the parts installed had the prefix "CR3Z" so they were just replacement 2012 arms.

Are there any aftermarket front control arms that are worth upgrading to?

Hi jz78817,

Let me get this control arm noise escalated to the customer service manager for your area. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Could be the front stabilizer bar bushings. I was chasing the same issue. I had replaced the upper strut mounts, bought the control arms (haven't replaced them yet), and recently replaced the sway bar bushing. Fixed.

Granted, you're is a 2012 but it sounds like the same issue as the 05-2010.

Just thinking out loud....
