Default Question about headlights on americanmuscle.com

I've talked to several reps there but no one could give me a straight answer. I'm looking at these headlights http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-h...lack-0509.html

they say they require h9 dual filament bulbs, and according to the reps they come with these raxiom h9 bulbs, http://www.americanmuscle.com/raxiom-h9-bulb.html - but these bulbs are SINGLE filament.

also i checked with many auto parts stores local and online, and no one really carries any dual filament h9 bulbs.

So what's the deal here, has anyone gotten these or can explain the situation to me? Can you put a single filament bulb in a dual filament housing and make it still work?

Also I was wondering, do the 05-09 mustangs have a bulb warning indicator on the dash? if you wanna get HIDs do you need to get a canbus version to cancel out the error code?

Hey Zeferi,

First of all, I just wanted to apologize for your inconvenience and misinformation. I'm not sure what went on there!

I'm going to speak with our content team and the guys at raxiom and get to the bottom of this ASAP.

As soon as I get you a solid answer, I will pop right back in and let you know!

In the meantime, feel free to shoot me a PM and I can get a discount code over to you to use for your next purchase.

Hope this helps and hang tight, I'll get you an answer!

I see a lot of confusion about some of these aftermarket lights. If you were not aware already please note those are still halogen lamps. The pictures and styling imitate HIDs but those are just halogen bulbs in differently styled housing. If you were already aware, please disregard this.

Alright! Sorry about the delay it took a while to hunt down the answer for you due to the holiday. But I did get it!

I had a set pulled for me so I can look into this for you and be 100% certain.

As you can see from the pictures, they are indeed a single filament bulb.

If you look at the picture with the green wiring leading to seemingly nowhere... that is where the magic happens!

These headlights actually have a motorized mechanism which changes the configuration of the bulb and lens which in turn creates a high beam/ low beam effect by redirecting the beam light.

So these do in fact use a single filament bulb but changes from high beam to low beam mechanically like an HID.

I hope this clears up some confusion and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

-Will
