Quick Oil Change Interval Question

Quick Oil Change Interval Question
Hi guys,
My '14 got its first oil change at 5K miles with RP Full Synthetic. Now I'm nearing about 15K miles and the cars complaining an Oil Change is Required.
I know the sensor is not actually monitoring the oil, rather, using an algorithm to determine when it things the oil needs to be changed.
Ford's service interval suggests under 10K miles for a change but RP suggests its full synthetic can go 12K miles no problem.
1. If I have a warranty concern and I'm changing outside Ford's service interval, albeit with better oil, are they going to **** with me re: my car's warranty.
2. Disregarding the above question, is it safe to extend my oil change to 17K miles despite the car whining at me?
thanks

There's no way anybody can predict what a dealer would do if you extend the oil change significantly. If you have a mechanical failure / issue that may have been caused by ineffective oil / dirty oil then Ford can / will void your warranty. As they should, since it was your fault and not theirs.
There's definitely no need to run out and do 3,000 mile oil changes. But extending them to 17,000? Wow... no way is that worth any potential risk to me. If you do that then the filter needs to be replaced halfway through.

I think he means when the car has 17k on the odometer (for a 12k change interval). In my opinion 10k is too much, I change my oil at 5,000-7,500 miles. The only real way to tell if your oil is still good is to get an oil analysis by a company like Blackstone Labs.

a 5K change and a 17K change would be a 12K interval as recommended by Royal Purple for the oil type I'm using.

The FORD recommended oil change interval is up to 10K miles with their semi-synthetic blend...

Every 5,000 miles with motorcraft full synthetic 5w 50 (track pack)
Its cheap insurance. regardless of the oil you use. I've seen cars with 100,000 miles on them, had the oil changed every 15k miles. pulled the valve cover off only to find a huge amount of sludge.
Same scenario but oil changes every 5-7.5k miles and the motors are clean and like new.
its cheap.
