09 Sync Kit Issues
So I bought an 09 Sync Kit and installed it in my used 2014 V6 base. Because it's the kit the Sync module didn't come with initial programming. I took it to a Ford dealership but because my car has a non-Sync VIN they couldn't program it (and for whatever reason they couldn't get it to work using the VIN for a car that already had Sync). As a result the HMI and voice commands don't work (although I can still play music and answer phone calls using the "Phone" button on the radio head unit.
I read on these forums that the HMI would work if I swapped the 09 Kit's Sync module for an already programmed Sync module.
So I ordered a Sync module off eBay from a wrecked Mustang. Seller said it was from a 2012 Boss 302. I was under the impression that the 2012 Boss 302 didn't have a navigation option (I wanted to get a Sync module from a car with base Sync). However when I got into the menus there was a bunch of navigation related options. Also the HMI and voice commands still don't work.
I'm unsure what to do next. Try to get an update flashed to the Sync module? Buy a different Sync module? A third option that hasn't occurred to me?
