Default Very rough idle then dies

I have an 05 mustang gt I installed AFE CAI a few days back and the car ran fine. Went to crank it yesterday it would barely idle and cut off idle was so rough it sounded like it had a cam. It did it this maybe 4 times before it would idle properly. I'm fairly new to the mustangs could this be a dirty MAF sensor?

Check that all connections are tight to make sure there are no air leaks.

Since it was running ok prior to the CAI I wouldn't think it'd be a dirty throttle body but doesn't hurt to check, it could need cleaning.

Ok thanks for the advice. I will take a look at the throttle body. Seems when I pull off the crank case line it starts perfectly fine

A slightly dirty TB might not cause any problem with the stock intake/tune but a performance tune (with its more aggressive throttle response) will be much more sensitive to any dirt that's deposited between the blade and the TB bore.
Therefore I'd highly recommend cleaning it.

The AFE didn't require a tune so Im kinda thinking it's actually going to need one. I will clean the throttle body before I do this just to be sure

Quite a few No-tune-required CAI's run on the ragged edge of needing a tune but the additional airflow can simply cause issues if the TB was dirty even though it wasn't running poorly prior to the additional airflow. TB cleaning first, then see what's happening.

Check that your MAF sensor is connected properly. I boneheadedly forgot to reconnect it once I had installed my CAI and had a similar issue.

Good luck
