Wax it with Turtle Wax Ice, makes it a lot easier to clean the next time.
Easier wash next time? MUST WAX EVERYTHING...

Haha but seriously it does help a substantial amount and makes the car beautiful in the process

I took a spray bottle and filled it with 1 part simple green and 3 parts water. I wrapped and bagged up the alternator, air filter, fuse box, and battery ( u may not have to but i DO). i then set the garden hose nozzle on shower and gave the engine a couple shorts squirts. i then sprayed everything down with my simple green mixture and let sit for about 10 min. then lightly rinsed and dried.

also, i heard it helps to have ur engine a little warm ( NOT A HOT ENGINE) due to the idea of spraying the mixture on the engine and closing the hood, allowing the spray to "cook" in there. then rinse and dry.

I use simple green diluted also. Wrap up the air box and fuse box. I will add though I take a electric leaf blower to dry to engine

I've used my pressure washer gingerly with only water but then again, my engines haven't been so bad that I've had to use anything stronger. When I was a kid and the typical domestic engine was hidden under a 1/2" thick layer of grime, people swore by a kerosene bath. My pressure washer allows me to induce a cleaner of some type and I'd consider that or some other type of degreaser that's more environmentally friendly than kerosene.

I just wipe the engine down after every time I wash the car. Stays clean and beautiful.

Simple Green is corrosive and will react with bare aluminium causing hydrogen embrittlement...don't do it. They do make an aircraft cleaner, that is safe to use on engines!

I use Orange clean, works just as well....
