Unhappy Help! "Check Charging Systems" keeps popping up.

My 05 Mustang GT with Shaker system one day had the "Check Charging Systems" light pop up so I checked the alternator and it turns out it was going bad. I replaced it with a brand new stock alternator. I also replaced the battery as well.

After about 500-600 miles or so the "Check Charging Systems" light popped up and it didn't happen anymore. Now it just happens more and more often. It can happen multiple times during a drive. I just drove today 40 miles and I counted 9 times it came up with that annoying ding and then would stop. The radio is almost always turned off as I don't listen to it much.

The car was taken to a mechanic and the alternator and battery were checked and everything seemed fine. The battery terminals were tightened. I don't know what else I could do.

Has anyone experienced this before? It tends to happen more I feel at idle but it is hard to tell because it is now a regular part of driving my car. At any moment I hear the ding and see the light saying "Check Charging Systems".

Have you checked the accessory belt and tensioner? Maybe the belt is loose or slipping. What about the other ends of the battery cables, the negative to the block and the positive to the starter solenoid? Are they tight clean and corrosion free? What about the condition of the cables themselves?

Years ago my car was constantly reading "Check Charging System" on the OSD with no apparent interruption in car operation. I replaced the alternator with a new factory replacement but continued to have the same issue. Finally, I went with the PA Performance (130 Amp) alternator with the Premium Power Wire Kit and have not had any issues since. This may not be your problem but I would like to think it was a combination of the wire along with the alternator that fixed mine.

If you replaced the oe alternator with another motorcraft, then I'd be wary. The motorcraft replacements seem to have a poor track record as well as the oe units.

But if you bought the Motorcraft alternator from a Ford dealer and had them install it, I think it's guaranteed (parts and labor) for 2 years.

So here is the scoop guys. I have a 2005 mustang gt with 50k miles. I get the battery light and check charging system after the car is running for a couple minutes and it stays on. The alternator checked out good and so did the battery. The alternator is a motor craft and the battery is a red optima. Im thinking there is a short but I do not know where. Any help would be great.

Check to see if corrosion has crept up the cable under the shielding.
