Default New Owner (Finally, Hooray) Newb here - Stereo Question

Hi all;

Always wanted a Silver 05 Mustang GT with red leather interior since I moved here from the UK back in 2005. First sports car I fell in love with in this country...long time coming, hooray!

Anyway, The car is super clean, can't complain especially considering the stupid price I got it for. That said, it has the common problem with the Shaker buttons wearing off and it makes everything else look worse which is a shame given how clean the rest of the car is.

I'm not a HUGE fan of really over the top looking stereos - I actually quite like the way the Shaker looks in the dash. So, What recommendations do you guys have for a 2DIN stereo for the car that isn't completely obnoxious? A nav system would be cool if its mostly touch screen to keep buttons to a minimum when turned off if I go that route.

Just curious! Thanks for any/all help!

Congrats on finally getting an S197! I'm sure you'll be happy with it! Can't go wrong with silver, though I may be biased.

If I had another choice at a head unit, I would definitely go with the Raxiom Unit. It looks super clean and like it was made to go in the car. It has a few buttons on the top, but it still does have a touch screen. You can also stream your music from your phone, which is super convenient.

If you want to keep your factory radio, but touch up the fading/peeling buttons, then get this...

If you want aftermarket touch screen, you'll see plenty of recommendations for Pioneers here. I've done 3 myself (2 I actually did) and I highly recommend them.

The only thing I would be Leary of with aftermarket touch screen radios is make sure you pick one that is compatible with your phone. Pioneer had a total failure of appradio versions 1, 2, and 3 until they finally merged with apple and launched CarPlay. Appradio was a complete mess and pioneer should be ashamed of themselves for coming up with such a stupid mess of a system. I'm not trying to keep up with technology so I'm going single din stereo in my car. This can get frustrating and expensive.
