Airbag Recall
#215
I had recall# 14B09 done last year.
Last week I received the notice for recall# 15S21.
The notice says this is a permanent repair and must be
performed even if you had an airbag inflator previously replaced
as an interim repair.
Dealer says 10 days to get the 15S21 parts.
Was 14B09 a brand new possibly defective unit?
Why is 14B09 being replaced by 15S21?
Last week I received the notice for recall# 15S21.

So I I looked up my VIN on the NHTSA website and it shows the recall 15V319, but for the status says:
RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available
Remedy not yet available? Guess I'll check with my local dealership.
If there is a remedy (which there seems to be from reading every page of this thread), this is pretty unacceptable for the NHTSA website. A lot of people may take the info from this sight as gospel and not get the issue resolved due to waiting for them to show the remedy available.

Local dealer ran my VIN and told me about the airbag recall and scheduled the repair to be done on July 26. I didn't even have to mention anything to them about it. I told them I just recently (last week) bought a used 2014 GT and asked them about servicing it. They asked if I had the VIN number so they could run a check on it, and voila.
According to this PDF http://www.safercar.gov/rs/takata/pd...rityGroups.pdf, my vehicle is in priority group 2. My car was delivered and sold in Houston, Tx. where it has spent it's life until I purchased it. I am only 2 hours away directly east, so my vehicle is definitely in the HAH (high absolute humidity) region.
And btw, this thread has been a great help!
