Default Battery drains in nine days.

Is there any testing meter that can pinpoint this 7 to 9 day drain to "stone dead" on my battery?

Check for parasitic draw using an ammeter. After the ignition has been off for 45 minutes, the draw should not exceed 50 milliamperes. If it exceeds this, then you have to start pulling fuses to find the circuit that is causing the excessive draw.

If you have a Shaker radio system, be sure to turn off the radio before you turn off the ignition. Sometimes the relay that is supposed to turn the radio off when you open the door doesn't work correctly, and the subwoofers don't turn off.

Default Battery

I've read again & again about the Shaker system draining the battery. I have an '06 GT with 136K on the clock. We go on a 2 week vacation every year and I have never had the battery drained, and I never turn the radio off before we leave. Seems this doesn't affect every car.

Thanks for the replies. It was also brought to my attention that sometimes trunk or glove box lights may not turn off. I have rear seat access so I know it's not that one. And there is no glove box light. So...the search continues...on to the fuse box and meter.

It is a parasitic draw for sure. I had this issue 3 months ago.

Brand new battery, but if I let the car sit for more than 12 hours it would not start. After I found a good mechanic, they told me it was a loose alternator cable and fixed everything for $125. Great guys. I will go back to them again and again.

BE VERY CAREFUL who you take this problem to, because some mechanics can easily rip you off saying it's all kinds of things that it isn't. Ford dealerships in particular. This is one job you want a trusted mechanic to work on.

Thanks Thai...I appreciate the advice. I will also post my findings and repairs to keep with the values of this forum.

Had a M.B. that battery would drain overnight. Turned out to be power seat controller. Would keep cycling the motor, but movement too small to notice. My indie found it quickly using meter to test amperage draw and popping fuses until no more drain.
