You may want to bone up on your automotive history. The Domestic manufacturers tried this 'planned obsolescence' decades ago. Once people realized imports were lasting 2-3 times longer than Domestics, Domestic sales tanked and it could be argued they're still recovering from this. Any manufacturer trying to employ this tactic today, where most cars are easily exceeding 200k miles with proper maintenance, that manufacturer would go out of business.

You all are probably correct on engine life and I am not going to dispute that. What about the rest of the vehicle? I am a Ford man all the way but I have experienced very poor engineering in the product. F150-F250 motors that have the manifold stud just rot off with less than 50K, Ball joints bad at less than 50,000 miles, heck for that matter my Stang with 33K miles had both lower ball joints bad. I guess I am used to the old Ford. I had a 79 F150 that had well over 100,000 miles on it with original rotors, ball joints etc. We all have opinions, I am not trying to start fights I am just stating what I have experienced.

I change mine @ 7500 or 1 year, whatever comes 1st. Motorcraft Full Syn and Motorcraft filter. I have the dealer do it so I don't get my fingernails dirty. There is never a question on maintenance. Cheap insurance, and like I said, no dirty fingernails. Or busted knuckles or crawling around in the driveway, disposing of old oil, etc...

Not too worried about the dirty nails, as i was a Machinist/Repairman for 38 yrs.

But totally agree Fast Lane @ $29.95 for semisyn - filter change & tire rotation when it's on sale..
You just can't beat it....
