Default Strut Tower Brace Recommendations...

So I'm looking to add a strut tower brace to my 2010 GT. Have a Roush TVS 2300 supercharger and stock GT hood. Wondering if anyone out there can recommend something that is going to fit without any issues. TIA

Everyone told me a strut tower brace was not really necessary on the S197 chassis. I dunno.

I have one on mine and while the car leans less going round corners, it adds to the over-steer (fishtailing) characteristics of the car.

None of them will do anything for your car's handling except add a marginal amount of weight. They do look cool, I guess.

Thanks for the advise everyone. I am definitely a nub to all this being a 1st time mustang owner. If I'm not going to see any gains in handling and will only be adding weight definitely not what I'm trying to accomplish... Any suggestions for some other low cost but effective mods I should look into to improve handling?

If you haven't done so already, I would recommend looking for a local autocross club. They're typically quite cheap and a lot of fun (not to mention it's easier on the car than a full track). The driver mod will benefit your handling the most. That really is the cheapest mod, especially considering bang for the buck. I pay about $50-$100 for a whole day!

If you really must buy parts (trust me, I know the feeling), new shocks and struts are a good place to start.

Default STB

I have read views on both sides about STBs. I put a Strange Engineering brace on my '06 GT 'vert, because it is a 'vert. Yes, I think it tightened things up a bit. I have heard the S197s are pretty stiff from the factory. I guess it's your money, keep investigation and do what you feel is best for your car. Good luck.

Depending on your budget & your goals ... there are several options out there, including the Rear X Brace - http://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustang...race-555-5093/

HUGE IMPROVEMENT
I can't believe how much this tightened everything up in the back of the car. It made a bigger difference than upgrading my rear sway bar. The back is firmly planted and steady in the corners. It even eliminated much of the clunks when driving over steep parking lot entrances.
The install took 2 hours only because getting the nuts on the bolts in the limited space is tricking if you have small fat hands. I didn't have to use a jack as the brace slide right over the shocks without any problem.

I can't think of a better upgrade to your suspension for the price.

Happy to help with any questions or packages you are looking at!

Best Regards,

TJ

The 07-09 gt500kr strut bar should fit.

I put a small piece of the fuzzy side of Velcro on the underside of it above the CAI because although it fits, the STB got hot enough to melt the carbon fiber dipped JLT CAI.
