Default Emergency brake grinding back rotor!

Anybody have this issue? When I hit the brake I get a nasty grind! Pads are good. I really think it's the Ebrake because I pull the brake lever up slightly while rolling back slowly and it grinds...not sure how to fix though...

Is this just a recent occurrence and did the car sit outside for a while during the last few wet days we've been having? If so, it may just be the pads knocking off the layer of surface rust that accumulated.

That said, I would suggest pulling the rear wheels and giving everything in there a closer look.

Side note - automated spelling correction software doesn't always know what word they're supposed to be trying to spell . . .

I'd take the wheels off and take a closer inspection of the inboard brake pads.

Yeah...definitely something going on. Quarter inch score around the outer edge of the rotor. So something is grinding on it for sure . Need to pull it off and check it out when I get a chance

Check the slider pins. They like to rust up and not allow the caliper to release completely.

Yes but the grinding gets worse when I apply the brake. So something def cutting the rotor. Gonna pull pull the caliper off this weekend.

Aren't the rear pads the same ones used for both the regular brakes and emergency?

If your in your driveway with your car off and roll the car then apply the e brake you'll hear it grind.

There could be something stuck in the pad but it wouldn't just be effecting your e brake.

Yes... that's exactly what happens. Going to pull the caliper off this weekend and see if I can figure it out

I'm wondering if when the piston in a rear caliper was screwed back into its bore that it wasn't aligned properly. There's a little pin on the pad that requires certain piston alignment, else it'll sit crooked and wear very unevenly (and sometimes pretty quickly at least at first).
